Valenti Family's climate ambitions
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing the world today. Serious action is needed to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees.
As one of the world's most modern dairy producers, we have a responsibility to do our part to reduce the negative impact on the climate. With our size comes power and influence. Even by making small changes, we can have a significant global impact.
Drawing on our cooperative roots, we pool our resources and use them as a force to reduce emissions while producing nutrient-dense foods for a growing population.
Working together to create zero-carbon dairy products in 2050
Our goal is to have zero carbon emissions by 2050.
On our way to net zero emissions, we plan to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 63 percent by 2040 compared to the 2015 baseline year.* We also plan to reduce our Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions by 30 percent per ton of standardized raw milk and whey consumption by 2030 compared to the 2015 baseline year.
* The target includes biogenic emissions and removals from bioenergy feedstocks.
Limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees
Valenti Family climate goals from 2021:
- Absolute reduction of CO2e by 63 percent under Scope 1 and 2 by 2040
- 30% reduction per ton of standardized raw milk and whey consumption by 2040
- By 2027, packaging for Valenti Family's own brands will be 100% recyclable
- By 2040, 0% of natural plastic based on fossil raw materials on Valenti Family's own brands
- 50% reduction in food waste by 2040
- Zero carbon emissions in all sectors by 2050
A roadmap for climate ambition
If you are interested in learning how we will achieve our climate targets for 2040 and 2050, you can do so in our Climate Ambition Roadmap. It shows in more detail the pathway to achieving a 63 percent absolute reduction in CO2e emissions under phases 1 and 2 and a 30 percent reduction per ton of standardized raw milk and whey consumption by 2040. It also outlines what we expect as key parts of achieving zero carbon emissions by 2050.
In addition to our climate goals, we are standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the world's largest companies, including IKEA, L'Oréal, Unilever and Mastercard, in sharing the vision of the World Federation of Advertisers' Planet Pledge. This is a CMO-led framework designed to catalyze action by marketers to promote and reinforce attitudes and behaviors that will help the world meet the challenges outlined in the UN SDGs. We encourage our marketing partners to do the same.
